Today, the head of the republic visited the Arctic State Agro-Technological University. First of all, Il Darkhan familiarized himself with the work of the admissions committee, which has already accepted more than 1,500 applications from applicants. It turned out that school graduates are most interested in specialties related to information technology, land management, cadastral works and landscape architecture. Aysen Nikolaev also visited the exhibition of own developments and pilot projects of universities, many of which, according to the head of Yakutia, have the potential for industrial scaling.
Then a meeting was held at AGATU, which was attended by members of the government, as well as representatives of interested ministries and departments and the university management. Il Darkhan reminded the audience that an inter-university campus project is being developed in Yakutsk by presidential order and AGATU should become an important part of this large-scale project. The Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Ecology have been instructed to interact more actively with AGATU.
Rector of AGATU Valery Fedorov presented the project of development of the university, which by 2030 should become a university that not only ensures the scientific and technological development of the region and trains highly professional personnel, but also implements and replicates scientific developments in the agricultural sector of the economy.
We remind you that the agricultural faculty of Yakutsk State University was established in 1956. In 1985, an agricultural institute was opened, which ten years later was reorganized into the Yakut State Agricultural Academy. In the spring of 2020, the academy was transformed into the Arctic State Agro-Technological University.
