Tesla CEO Elon Musk arrived in Beijing at the invitation of the China International Trade Promotion Council.

China is the second largest market for Tesla. Shanghai is home to the company’s first car manufacturing plant outside the US, and last year it delivered about 947,000 vehicles.

During talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Musk discussed the launch of the Full Self-Driving System (FSD), as well as allowing the transfer of data abroad.

Musk’s visit comes as global automakers are pushing their latest models, particularly electric cars, at the Beijing Auto Show.

Data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers show that the Chinese market accounts for almost 65% of the total global NEV (Neighborhood Electric Vehicle) sales – electric vehicles for local trips with limited speed.
