Music school No. 1 named after Ipolitov-Ivanov in Kostroma is being disbanded. This was reported by the parents of the students, reports the correspondent of “Novosti 44”.
Classes at the educational institution have been suspended since November 5. It later turned out that on October 31, 2024, the school’s director, Sviatlana Suvorova, along with a deputy and a guard, inspected the school and found “minor sagging plaster” and cracks in two classrooms. On the basis of this document, the school stopped holding lessons. The report of the school inspection is at the disposal of the editors. It is interesting that there are no official statements about the reason for the closure of the school on the website and social networks of the institution yet.
At the moment, 500 children are studying in the educational institution and 60 teachers are teaching. Now they organize lessons “online”. In the future, the children can be transferred to other music schools or given a separate building.
We remind you that this music school has been operating in Kostroma since the 18th century. It is located in an architectural monument of the 19th century – the revenue chambers of the Tretyakov merchants, located in the center of Kostroma since 1963.
Earlier, the Kostroma Regional Music College was based in this same architectural monument. In 2018, the Department of Culture reported that the building was in an emergency condition, and in 2022, the college moved to a building in the Jubilee district. Officials promised to start drafting restoration documents immediately after the college moved and expected to allocate 600 million rubles for its restoration. So far, officials have not provided specific plans for the restoration of the cultural heritage site to the public.
