This year, 248 applications were considered, which is slightly less than in 2023, when was submitted a record number of applications – 298. However, the quality of answers to motivational questions has increased significantly, and the volume of answers has almost doubled – candidates began to describe their motivation in more detail, the Center notes.
Applications for participation in the Internet Management Summer School were received from 10 countries: Armenia, Belarus, India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. There were especially many applications from young professionals who have already graduated from universities and are working in various professional fields.
After the multi-stage selection, 95 people remained who confirmed their willingness to take part in the training taking into account the expected workload.
Among the professional fields (profiles) of those who submitted applications, jurisprudence, information technology and international relations traditionally lead.
Participants will explore topics such as protecting human rights online, the digital economy, and digital diplomacy. At the main stage, issues of artificial intelligence, protection of intellectual property rights on the Internet and other relevant topics will be discussed. The tasks for the final works are selected taking into account the priority directions presented at the UN Global Forum on Internet Governance 2024. The participants of the Summer School will contribute to the preparation of materials for presentation at the IGF 2024 sections, the topics for which are planned to be proposed by the Youth Council of the Central Committee, according to the message.
