Windows 10 users show an unprecedented reluctance to upgrade their operating system despite the fact that support for their OS ends in October 2025 – almost a billion people have not switched to Windows 11, writes on Friday Forbes.
Over the past year, 130 million people have switched to Windows 11, and about 900 are still working on the “ten”.
One of the reasons is that an upgrade to Windows 11 is not possible on many fully functional computers, which, however, are not compatible with Windows 11, which has increased hardware requirements. In total, experts have counted 240 million such machines.
Microsoft has always stimulated – more or less artificially – demand for new generations of desktop processors. Now the progress in this (processor) area has slowed down, but Microsoft did not lose heart and significantly expanded list mandatory requirements for “iron”. The most unpleasant thing in this list is the so-called trusted platform module, TPM. We would venture to say that Microsoft included TPM in the list of conditions for installing Windows 11 not in the interests of its users, but in its own interests and the interests of computer manufacturers.
